Solace is a multi-storey restaurant proposal situated in Toronto, conceived as a contemporary dining environment that merges openness, warmth, and urban presence. The design is driven by a strong open-concept approach, creating visual and spatial continuity throughout the building while enhancing circulation and the relationship between floors. Through the use of natural f finishes, ambient lighting, and clean architectural forms, the project establishes an inviting yet elevated atmosphere. Solace is intended to function as both a restaurant and a social destination, offering a refined interior experience that responds to the energy of the city while maintaining a sense of comfort and retreat.
This project explores an open concept
restaurant designed to create a seamless
connection between dining, circulation,
and social interaction. The
layout encourages openness and visibility,
helping the space feel welcoming,
modern, and highly engaging.
At first glance, during the day the restaurant is more unassuming, with rays of sunshine shining through the aluminum bars into the restaurant. It provides a lot of shadows and beams of light, similar to the sight of crepuscular rays.
Then at night, when the life of the city begins to quiet in the neighbourhood of St. James, the life begins to move indoors as people look to gather and celebrate each other with the reward of relaxation.
